Just wanted to repost something I just sent to newcastle_uni, because the group's pretty dead and I know there are a lot more students on my friends list who aren't members, so! For anyone who's free tomorrow afternoon and interested in the sexuality of ancient Greece and Rome:

FORUM ON SEXUALITY

At the inaugural meeting of the class on Wednesday July 20, 2005 - in the McMullin Theatre [MCTH] from 2 to 4pm – instead of an Introductory Lecture there will be an open forum on the topic:

MODERN THEORY AND ANCIENT SEXUALITY

The Speakers

Marguerite JOHNSON (University of Newcastle) – Feminism and Feminist Theory

Harold TARRANT (University of Newcastle) – Why didn’t the Ancients need theories of Sexuality?

James UDEN (University of Sydney) – Foucault and Queer Theory

Chair: Terry RYAN

Each Speaker will address the Forum for 15-20 minutes. Members of the class/audience will be invited to ask questions, offer opinions, and, in general, join in a free-flowing discussion of issues raised.

Class members are welcome to invite friends.

And for everyone posting that "what kind of pirate am i?" thing, if you have to have your friends tell you what kind of pirate you are, chances are good you're no pirate at all. I'll continue to think my friends are a bunch of lazy landlubbers until you prove me wrong by joining me for a pillage, Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates style. It's free to play on the Viridian ocean, so join me for swashbuckling good fun. :P

Mahduka. :) It's a variation on the name of one of my World of Warcraft characters, which is itself a variation on the name of an ancient god.

I sail with a crappy little crew called The Chaos Fleet, if you ever see a job offer up for them, take it and I'll probably be aboard. :)
